Sir,

I have the honour to transmit the

'enclosed copy of a letter from the Acting Chief Manager

closure 28th March, 1900.

of the HongKong and Shanghai Banking Corporation asking that the Ordinance to Continue the HongKong and Shanghai

Bank Ordinance 1899, which expires on the 31st. of July

next may be re-enacted for one year from that date in

order to enable the Bank to issue notes in excess of its

paid up Capital.

I have no objection to Bank's request

being acceded to, and would ask your sanction to introduce

the necessary Ordinance into the Legislatiere.
